About Us

The need for change brings about innovation.

Seeing an urgent need for changes in the court reporting industry, Harriet Brenner and Ellen Birch made a decision to open a new kind of court reporting company, one that addressed the need for highly technical computer-aided court reporting skills. Establishing their first working relationship at one of the largest court reporting companies in the world, Harriet M. Brenner, President of Realtime Reporting, Inc., and Ellen P. Birch, Vice President of the firm, have collaborated since 1988.

Realtime Reporting, Inc. was incorporated in May 1997 and opened for business in January 1998. Harriet and Ellen embarked on a mission to provide the legal field with the most professional, courteous and experienced court reporters available in the industry, and to provide court reporters with an everlasting opportunity for professional and personal growth through state-of-the-art technology and a supportive staff to meet the reporters’ needs. Realtime Reporting, Inc. provides an atmosphere of ongoing learning and technical training to its court reporting staff.

It’s all about relationship building.

Realtime’s clients – attorneys, law firms, administrators, support staff, and other professionals – have responded by entrusting Realtime with their business. Harriet Brenner and Ellen Birch are seasoned networkers who know how to bring value to those with whom they have cultivated trusting relationships. Those relationships span Long Island’s business, legal, professional, community, civic and not-for-profit communities. By adopting a policy of giving back, Realtime Reporting has been on the receiving end of referrals and professional recognition.

Giving back to the community is ingrained in the Realtime Reporting culture.

Ellen and Harriet have instilled a culture of giving back to the communities in which they, their staff, and the court reporters associated with Realtime Reporting, Inc. live and work. Realtime Reporting, Inc. participates in fundraising programs and volunteer work for the WE CARE Fund of the Nassau County Bar Association; Nassau/Suffolk Law Services; NALS (formerly National Association of Legal Secretaries) of Nassau County; NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) and LIIC (Long Island Insurance Committee). Realtime Reporting also provides volunteer mentors and an in-depth intern program.

In recognition of their community and professional contributions, honors have come their way:

  • Realtime Reporting, Inc. was named in 2004 to the prestigious Workforce Builders Honor Roll of the Long Island Works Coalition.

  • Harriet and Ellen were appointed to the WE CARE Fund’s Community Leaders Board in 2005.
